Worry About Strength?

While a light-gauge hook has slightly lower theoretical strength than thicker-wire hooks, this is not an issue in real fishing conditions.

A 5/0 size comfortably handles snapper and kahawai over 50 cm. When targeting larger fish, choosing a larger hook size naturally means a thicker wire,so strength is never a concern in practice.
